Racial Radicals

September 17, 2007 By: darylim Category: daily dosage, thoughts, writings 3 Comments →

Some happenings for the interesting day.

Was on the bus journey back home, i saw this young Malaysian mother with her toddler. The toddler was mischievous to the ultimate, he climbed on seats, press bells umpteen times and hitting other passengers on the bus.

His mum had quite a trouble controlling him. She then made a snick remark loudly,

“ni zhai chao wo jiu jiaoah bu neh neh lai zhuo ni!”

Sad to say, she was sitting very close to the driver, which was unfortunately an Indian. What made it worst was that there was another Indian man sitting at the opposite seat.Jokingly, when she said that sentence, she was pointing her finger to that Indian Man.

Furthermore, throughout the whole journey, she repeated the sentence with her hand actions several times. I guess that Indian man must be wondering…

What has that got to do with me?? I’m innocent.

These are probably the social perception that the laid back perceive, which is now still carried on in our society. I vividly remembered that when i was young, my aunties, grandmother and had threatened me with the same sentence.I wonder, what did the Indians do in the past to make our ancestors have such kind of mindset, and mind that we shouldn’t let such kind of thinking set ablaze the stable racial harmonious society we have in Singapore.

It suddenly struck me when i was jogging just now.

If a handful of people around have bias judgment against you, its human nature. For human nature proves itself to have different perspectives.

However, if the majority of the people around you, thinks otherwise about your character. It certainly shows something wrong about yourself.

Before you start rambling about how the rest of the world owes you a living, reflect upon your own doings.

Childhood

July 04, 2007 By: darylim Category: thoughts, writings No Comments →

The moment here marks the end of one torture and soon the start of the other.
Alright, its the end of my papers for Midyears, i have full four days to take a breather before the next journey starts for me to the reaching milestone.

Today, I shall blog about the controversy of childhood.

As parents, it is all their wish and dream for their child to grow up to become good and useful people in the society.

But are these happening at the expense of the childhood memories of the kid?

In order for a child to be able to do well in life, parents tend to send their child to many different crash courses to help nurture their talent from within. Where such courses will vary from, piano lessons, ballet lessons, language lessons etc. The list just continues. There are just so many things that a parent would want their child to excel in.

Parents would also love to send their child for endless tuitions so that they will be able to have good grades in school.

However, as a child. Young and innocent he is, how would he be able to apprehend and understand the fact that these are beneficial for him. We’ve got to look things at the child’s perspective. To him, these amount of work are just like barbed wires that strips and puts a boundary to his freedom.

As children, what they would perceive fun as, would be to play and not have any worries for studies and work. Hence, they would only understand the whole situation when they grow and mature. But the bad memories of childhood will be embedded in their minds forever.

On another stand, if the parent chose to give way and let their child play through his young days. The child will have a wonderful childhood, but might not be able to excel well in life.

Hence the controversy of should, or should not parents tax their child with heavy workload and stress in their childhood years. Think about it yourself.

Here i present you one of the fabulous works by Michael Jackson, Childhood. The lyrics are a meaningful bunch. Enjoy!

Have you seen my Childhood?
I’m searching for the world that I come from
‘Cause I’ve been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart…
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities…
‘Cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me…

People say I’m not okay
‘Cause I love such elementary things…
It’s been my fate to compensate,
for the Childhood
I’ve never known…

Have you seen my Childhood?
I’m searching for that wonder in my youth
Like pirates in adventurous dreams,
Of conquest and kings on the throne…

Before you judge me, try hard to love me,
Look within your heart then ask,
Have you seen my Childhood?

People say I’m strange that way
‘Cause I love such elementary things,
It’s been my fate to compensate,
for the Childhood I’ve never known…

Have you seen my Childhood?
I’m searching for that wonder in my youth
Like fantastical stories to share
The dreams I would dare, watch me fly…

Before you judge me, try hard to love me.
The painful youth I’ve had

Have you seen my Childhood….

thee can understand how i’m feeling now?

results ‘re bad to the pitts, ‘ve never expected that,

thou so down, deep deep down. Who Knows?

time’s racing off, not so in abundance anymore,

i’ve woken up, haven’t you?

i’ll definitely make you pay for these, be it five, ten of fifty years. You just wait!

Tinge of the day

June 27, 2007 By: darylim Category: daily dosage, thoughts 2 Comments →

Hmm.. I’ve got a new beverage to get addicted on. Nothing beats having a cup of hot ginseng tea in the morning while studying. The feeling is indeed refreshing and makes one feel awake. The smell of ginseng’s full of fragrances too.

Today’s Econs paper was rather alright i think. Though its like the first time I’m writing so much econs essay at one go, the feeling of completing three 25marks essay is fabulous. Hopefully will be able to pass with a good grade when combined with the Case Study paper next Wednesday.

Tomorrow’s the powerful day. Physics and human geography. I doubt i can score in these 2 papers. Its really difficult to study for these 2 subjects. Not to mention that i have not practised at all for physics. At All.. not practised much.. so just prepare for the best. Maybe i can test my limits tomorrow. Probably can come out stunts like,

  1. Don’t bring calculator to Physics Paper
  2. Use left hand to write and calculate
  3. Test your limit, finish the paper in 30mins

Haii. I guess i would just prepare for the worst tomorrow.

Exams really do suck.. They really do. While all the other primary school, secondary school and other educational level are enjoying their holidays. We JC students are hard mugging for our exams. Where is the holiday??? Where??
Throughout the 4 Seasonal holidays we have, almost all we have to mugg and mugg in holidays for the upcoming exams when school reopens

March Holidays ——> Mug for block test
June Holidays——–> Mug for Mid years
September Holidays——> Mug for Prelims
December Holidays——-> Prepare to go army……

However, to think on a more positive side. There are indeed some.. some advantages that we get to enjoy when we have exams.

  1. The privilege to end school early to go home and sleep
  2. The privilege to go to school late (provided you have no morning papers)
  3. Save money ( spend less time in school and eat at home)
  4. Have extra holidays!! ( On days when we have no papers, or marking days)

So, while we think about the dreadful stuffs during the period of examination.. think of the above 4 points, maybe it will bring about a lovelier smile on your face :)

Guess i better wake up early to study a bit of my physics and Human geog. For the pass hours, i’ve failed to get stuffs correct into my head. Got to sleep early and wake up early.

And this one thing.. So thanks to my brudder to blogg and mention about me in his blogg. I will give my “thanks” and “appreciation” soon. Too busy and tired now.

Probably you all didn’t noe that nigel…

Exams and more exams

June 26, 2007 By: darylim Category: daily dosage, thoughts No Comments →

Gross.. The Physical Geog paper was urghhhhghh…. Almost every question for essay it came out Hazards and Managements. God!.. that’s like the last thing people would want to study.

I guess i just don’t have the stamina and the drive to really sit down and study hard. Since I’ve reached home, i haven’t touch my notes until like 10 mins ago. I always have the idea of procrastinating, later.. later. Which lands me, myself in such a state now where i am not able to contemplate the subjects very well.

Guess for the next few months, i need some serious pushing and motivation to get me back right on track. Some bann from the computer, someone lock me up. I just need a room, a table and my works, and NO BED PLS. More importantly, a bugger. A bugger that BUGS me to study hard.

Me and Jiahao was discussing about the 2nd Path to take, just in case we don’t make it well to Uni. The alternative route is to sign-on. The news has just reported that sign-ons are going to get higher wages. Wooo.. haha. Then when you retire at 55, you drive taxi to come by.

But do you think these 2-3K monthly can fund yourself. I doubt its adequate, at least for the fact now that everything seems inflated. Come to think of it, maybe the pay rise for sign ons is due to NTUC funding because of the growing economy. Or is it because there are less sign ons nowadays.

Now my wish.. Is for my papers to end quickly. Short term pain is better than long term torture. Just bring everything on… because..

Things will turn out well eventuallyhopefullu i guess :)

When dawn breaks, it increases my heart rate… EXAMS!

June 24, 2007 By: darylim Category: just passing-by, thoughts No Comments →

Wooots. Mid years exams is in less than 9hours time. My Maths, its a goner. Prolly the same for my many other subjects. Education is really a pain in the ass, but sadly we have to suffer that pain FOREVER! As people always say,

lifelong learning… lifelong learning.

Probably we might feel a lil more contented learning if stuffs are not that stressful, not that competitive. Or rather selective learning, preferential and having your own choice in choosing what one really want to learn for a skill for use in life.
Where most of the people are pursuing a career for a career, things wont be that easy.Life’s fragile, live it to your fullest. But how many can?

Look that that TCS, he’s been bugging me to play Starcraft. I want to watch TV.Look at my cute pets. Can you spot 4 tortise?Signing Off, good luck for all having exams tomorrow.

Communications

December 13, 2006 By: darylim Category: just passing-by, thoughts No Comments →

hey, amazing yea? Seeing me here more den once in 2 days. I’m seriously bored to the pits that i’m putting myself into this thing. Well..

Was walking on the road and wondering, what this world will be without this wonderful thing called

”Communications”

All Things happen for a cause, and partly the cause was due to some communications that had intervened in the process. What more can be part of it? Text messages, a smile, a snub, a finger, a glance. All these should be as such as it causes the other party to reflect and think of what that action was for? This world is made up through communicating, nothing is possible in the existence of communications. How will it be feasible if one is totally cut out from the world? Pretty scary i thought.I’m BORED, anyone entertain me. Flying in 2 day’s time, stuffs not packed, monies not changed. I’m rotting…. But i refuse to do my tutorials, heh!
