You wish you had an Apple?

January 16, 2009 By: darylim Category: Others, photoblog 2 Comments →

My first Apple product was.. iTunes, which was obviously a free download. A clean and simple Music tool that organise your music on the computer..

Slowly, i realised that its more than what it is. iTunes grew into a programme that connects all your Apple devices together, and also a place to shop for iPhone applications and music; which the latter is not available in Singapore. No idea why though.

Then i got the 1st Generation iPod Nano. A free gift from SingTel though. It was able to withstand the years and weathering. Still my source of music.

I got the iPhone about 1 year ago. Something which didnt come by cheap and easy as it was not launched in Asia then. Totally blew off by its capabilities, though it couldnt function some of the things that people expect to have in their phones. Such as bluetooth and transferring of files

If one uses their brain and think, if Apple operates iTunes Store by selling music. Does it makes sense if their device could download the music and bluetooth it to another party out there?

I sold my 2G and got myself the iPhone 3G. Not a very big difference with the old one but it has better network speed. Galore myself in the 10,000 apps and counting that Apple and other 3rd party developers are creating. Of cause that comes with the JB tool that one has to be equipped with. Though i have to agree that some of the terms and condition set by Apple are pretty erm.. which restricts more creativity and development.

Not long ago..  I successfully built myself a Hackintosh. Well, if i had the bucks. I would have gotten myself a iMac, which saves myself all the hassle.

Who wouldnt want to own something as pretty as this..?

or this..

Windows Live Writer

November 07, 2007 By: darylim Category: Others No Comments →

Introducing a new tool, superb for hardcore bloggers like me. The Windows Live Writer.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Windows Live Writer is a desktop blog publishing application. It features What You See is What You Get (WYSIWYG) Authoring, Photo Publishing and Map Publishing.

Its somewhat similar to Microsoft Word, just that you can set up your blog with this software and not login to any websites to post your blog entries. With this software, you can do writing of blog entries in advance offline and save them as drafts before publishing them when you have the internet connection.

It has a friendly interface, the design and colour of the interface looks cool too.

Some of its features,

  • Publish to most major blog services

Including Windows Live Spaces, SharePoint, Wordpress, Blogger and many others. Don’t have a blog yet? Writer will help you set one up!

  • Create a compelling blog easily

Insert photos and videos, maps, tags and lots of other cool content, all in a snap. Powerful editing features include tables, spell checker, and quick hyperlinks.

  • Preview before you post

Writer shows you what your blog entry will look like before you post it, using your blog’s templates and formatting.

  • Compose your entries offline

Publish them later, when you get back online.

I am currently typing this entry with this wonderful tool. You can get this freeware here.  If you have any enquiries, feel free to leave a comment.

    Enjoy!

  • Allocative Efficiency

July 01, 2007 By: darylim Category: Others No Comments →

Probably, for Econs one of the most basic term that most students will know is allocative efficiency.

Allocative efficiency is only achieved when resources are allocated to different uses in such a way that it is not possible to make anyone better off without making somebody worse off. It is possible for a firm to be producing its output very efficiently and yet be producing the wrong goods. Therefore it is important to produce the output that is most preferred by consumers.

I was on the bus yesterday whereby i thought of a rather weird scenario which illustrates this concept.

Lets say u are on a not very crowded bus. You decided not to take a seat and stand at the bus aisle. By doing so, you are not promoting allocative efficiency and putting a strain on the society hence adding on costs to the society. Don’t understand? Let me elaborate further.

If everyones acts the same and not sit, then it will reduce the optimal carrying capacity of the bus. With the same amount of fuel, the same amount of labour to operate the bus. Therefore much resources will be not optimized.

Think about the further things that might happen. People might be in the need to rush for jobs, or flights. Or even for some investments. Which will lead to more impacts, regardless socially and economically.

Haha. The above is just my 20cents point of view, please take it lightly.

    WaiSze on the move

    oooooooooo.

It’s been long since I’ve last updated.

Had CIP yesterday. And seriously, I really hate ‘volunteering‘ for NKF. I hate how they portray their charity shows to be like gambling shows. Why must they stoop so low just to get donations? Must they use all those big prizes like cars, condos, to entice us Singaporeans instead of touching our hearts? What has become of our society?

Went Botanic Gardens to watch the band performance. I’m so proud of my juniors!

O Levels is nearing. I’m gonna pull up my socks and beat everyone, including Jun Jie!

    Muahahahaha.

Oh btw, Wai Sze has changed her blogskin. Please do visit her blog regularly. I think it’s very nice and beautiful, unlike mine, full of shit. Hahahah! I love to eat chocolates too and I think everyone should too. :D
