McDonalds.
The hundred post this shall be. For the running of the blog for almost 3 years.
Recently, i stumbled upon this wonderful video which i had known about but didn’t have the chance to really view it.
Super Size Me is an Academy Award-nominated 2004 documentary film, directed by and starring Morgan Spurlock, an American independent filmmaker. It follows a 30-day time period (February 2003) during which Spurlock subsists exclusively on McDonald’s fast food and stops exercising regularly. The film documents this lifestyle’s drastic effects on Spurlock’s physical and psychological well-being and explores the fast food industry’s corporate influence, including how it encourages poor nutrition for its own profit. During the filming, Spurlock dined at McDonald’s restaurants three times per day, sampling every item on the chain’s menu at least once. He consumed an average of 5,000 calories (the equivalent of 9.26 Big Macs) per day during the experiment.-

eriously, i think this film has drastically changed my perception about MacDonald’s food. The nutritional level of such food are close to null. I think you guys should really watch this film. It doesn’t matter if you are a big fan of McDonald’s or just a frequent visitor.Nutritionist have commented that one should never eat such food unless its in the time of a war, to the extent that there is absolutely no food available for survival. However, for the past few days, I’ve been visiting McDonald’s. Not for the food, but for the space there to study. No matter how hard it is for us to boycott McDonald’s, is somewhat a difficult task to do it.
- Its the only fast food restaurant that opens 24hrs, for overnight muggers to camp in.
- It ALL OVER THE island.
- It’s easy identifiable as meeting place.
I was studying at one of them just now, i saw this China Dad, forcing his young child, around 4 years old, a McChicken. I took almost an hour and a half for that kid to finish the whole burger. It must have took him great pain to complete that difficult task.
Why does he want to choose to dine at McDonald’s albeit the fact that there is a proper food centre just beside it. Be it cost or nutritional, it would definitely be wise to choose the latter.
The fact that they actually place such a notice, it shows that the the influx of customers coming to McDonald’s is high, so high that students can’t study there. But the fact is no one actually cares about such notices, though i try real hard not to buy anything from there. If the circumstance do not really allow, a cup of green tea will do the job.
Nutritional Fact
Its funny how McDonald try to promote its food to increase the confidence of health conscious customers by placing nutritional facts about their food. Its funny that they only put the fact of the small size Coke drink on the nutritional fact sheet.
How quality fast food can be, when most of them were frozen food. They made it sound as if their food were really healthy. Balance diet? Active lifestyle?
The average calories a person take daily is 2000kcal. One normal Big Mac meal would cost about 1150 kcal, which is more than half that of the daily intake. So, imagine a McDonald meal 3 times a day.
“Awesome”
I would not be surprise if McDonald press some charges for this. But it is important that i make this clear to my friends around me the harm that such food would bring.
The video above shows how McDonald food decompose over time. You will see how the fries that they produce break down over time.
FYI, the faster the food break down, the easier will it for food to be digested. Just take a look, in case you thought that McDonald fries are similar to other substitutes.
Hence, avoid these food at all costs. It will benefit your own health and your pocket. Make the wise choice.
